Survey on Inflation Expectations

The purpose of the survey is to provide data on inflation expectations that can be used to design current monetary policy.
The survey sought responses from institutions and independent professionals considered opinion leaders in these areas
As of December 2007, the group of respondents was expanded to include the banking system. Also the amount of analysts surveyed was increased.
A table with indicators that summarize some of the responses obtained follows.  It is important to highlight the median (value of expectations accumulated in the first 50% of its distribution), measure of central tendency that is less affected than the average by extreme values.
Due to the characteristic of this statistic, the Central Bank of Uruguay favors the use of this indicator in its analysis of the behavior of inflation expectations.
