Credit rating agencies are independent firms that issue reports with their assessments on the situation of specific entities or on specific instruments.
These agencies are required to register with the Central Bank of Uruguay. Also, the rating methodologies must be submitted for analysis by the regulator.
See requirements for Registration, Art. 136 et seq of the Rules on the Securities Market (RNMV in Spanish).
The supervisor ensures the disclosure of the methodology used and the results obtained by the credit rating agency.
See list of credit rating agencies registered with the Superintendency of Financial Services.
